Turn signal goes opposite direction as switch back to neutral
On my 2011 GLK 350, I have been often experiencing the following problem. If I press combination switch to indicate a right (or left) turn, but do not make such turn, or only turn a little bit (e.g. lane change) and press the combination switch back to neutral position, the right (or left) turn signal goes to the opposite direction - left (or right) turn, rather than going off. I have to press combination switch to the opposite direction - right (or left), the turn signal goes to right (or left) again.... So, the turn signal is back and forth between right turn and left turn, but not off. The problem stops only after either I make a sufficient turn, or I shake steeling wheel a little bit right and left back and forth quickly for a while. I am sure anyone driving behind me would think I am crazy.
I reported the problem to my dealer at 10,000 mile service. They could not duplicate the problem.

Yes, I have been paying attention to ensure the combination switch level back to neutral position. At the beginning, I thought the lever may not be back to neutral position, as you think. But, that was not the case. The turn signal light in the opposite direction becomes on even when the combination switch lever is back to neutral position.

No, I have not tried that option. I just know that option from GLK owner manual this morning.
I have driven many other cars, but never had such uncomfortable experiences on turn signals, as I described.
