2010 GLK 350 collapable spare tire
I recenty purchaced a 2010 GLK 350 built for the Canadian market. It was equipped with regular tires and a collapsible spare tire but missing the tire inflator pump. Dealer tells my the tire infiltrator pump was an option and not part of the original equipment. This makes no sense to me because the spare would be useless with out means to inflate it. Can anyone else in Canada confirm this to be true?
I understand runflat tires were standard equeptment for this model sold in the USA. There was no spare tire and but the tire inflator pump was a option for them
Note missing tire inflation pump

Looks like a nice square-shaped holder for a tire pump; if it didn't come with one then perhaps previous owner(s) lost it? You can get a replacement but doubtful that the MB dealer would just pony up for a new one.
Amazon might just be your friend in this case.
And FYI, most of us US owners are jealous you have that awesome compact spare Vredestein; that by itself is a few hundred bucks. In the case of Bluetec (diesel) owners, we don't get ANY spare; we got run-flat tires that handled like garbage and were often unfixable. Many of us have since dumped the run-flats and gone to quality tires, much improving the ride and handling. As backup, I carry a small portable compressor and those gummy strips in the tire repair kits.

I picked up a compressor and a bunch of other stuff at a junk yard for $50.00. Add to that a can of fix-a-flat, a AAA card and a cell phone and you're set for everything.

The electric air pump doesn't appear on the build sheet for my vehicle therefore the dealer concluded it was an option.
I asserted the pump was part of the Tyre change tool kit that went along with the collapsible spare. A spare tire without means to inflate it would be useless.
US models had run flat tires and no spare. Electric air pump and tire repair kit was an option for them.
As it is was most things Mercedes, This wasn't as straight forward as it first appeared but the dealer wasn't just feeding me a line as I had assumed.
I have managed to resolve this with the dealer, grateful for their patience, integrity and choosing to do the right thing and preserve the relationship.

Thanks John
I scoured the local junk yards to no avail. Had I stayed with it I'm sure one would have turned up eventually. With 3 other older MB's they have proven to be invaluable.

I bought a air pump at Canadian Tire years ago and always have it in each car I own. Naturally with a can of Fix a Flat. Like @John CC says a CAA card and a cell phone are great back ups as well.

In my other cars I carry an inexpensive (<$30 US) Slime compressor that works okay but takes 7-8 minutes to inflate a flat. DeWalt makes a really nice one with auto shut off and 2 minute inflation time, but it costs $140 US. We carry that in the 1 ton pickup with the big flotation tires.

My 2010 has the full kit including pump. I had to use it once and it worked very well. Any 12 volt inflator pump will work. If your car has the spare tire, I would bet the pump was included. and has been removed.

I was curious so actually took the time to check my car. I have the collapsible spare and an air pump from Mercedes tucked away nicely in its own little compartment. I guess I should go back and remove my second pump I have been hauling around LOL. Now I worry if I ever had a flat that fix a flat does not fix where would I store the full size tire if I was on a trip
I wonder if it is just me but do others have the area around the spare tire full of junk you may never need.

I also have ZERO stuff in the spare compartment, but I do have a SuperFlow mini compressor next to the net compartment... awesome mini pump. I've done a couple of tire plugs on the spot while on the road, then use SuperFlow to pump up. Maybe 2-3 minutes.

I feel like a hoarder, I have so much stuff crammed into the space. Some of it useful like a first aid kit , booster cables, first aid book, flashlights, some hand tools , gloves, tarp and so many other things that I may need but never use. Oh naturally the second air pump and my can of Fix a Flat. I should buy a new can as there has to be a shelf life. I do not carry spare food so that has to be a plus. Interior of my car is kept pristine with not even a candy wrapper on the floor.

"In the can, Fix-a-Flat has a shelf life of 2 years from the date manufactured. For a period of 90 days from date of purchase, the manufacturer guarantees this product will meet the specifications when used as directed."
Slime is a little more forgiving:
"Slime will last for four years from date of manufacturing when stored in its original packaging and placed in a cool, dry place."

The problem I have with products like Slime or the Fix-in-a-Can repair products in general is that once you inject that stuff into your tire, there is no taking it out. This will oftentimes throw your wheel balance out of whack, since it adds weight to a specific area of the tire. Unless you use the repair product as an emergency to get you home and then replace the tire, I'm not sure I'd like that stuff in there long-term.
I prefer those gummy strips/plugs when placed in the safe area of the tire and simply re-inflating to proper pressure; even then you'd likely benefit from having the tire rebalanced since even a couple grams can affect the smoothness at high speeds.
