Tire wear expectations
So, what kind of tire wear are you experiencing? My GLK came equipped with Continental 4X4 Contacts and at 12k miles are still looking very good. No noticeable feathering or wear on the edges, good tread depth remaining, plus they are still in perfect balance. I'm estimating perhaps 35k to 40k out them. If they make it that far, stay in balance and don't get noisy, I plan to replace them with exactly the same make and model.

Thanks
We were pleasantly surprised by the 19" Contis. One aspect is they are symmetrical and all on the same size rims so one can rotate them in an X pattern. This will certainly prolong their useful life.
BTW if you read the US Owner's manual ( its almost the last page) the winter rims recommended are 17". The recommended tire specs fit only the Pirelli Scorpion Ice and Snow. In fact, Luke from the TR told me that there is a special MB version of this tire. He does not know (guess P and MB won't say) how it is different but that is the tire/wheel combo we are picking up today.
If you call Luke he will fix you up with Rial DF (?) wheels also that are made specifically for the MB fitment in Europe. Nice package.

My GLK is equipped with the factory scorpion wheels with AMG sporting package, my GLK is exactly 2 years old with 22,000 KM. Till now my wheels look in good shape, maybe another 2 years and then I should renew them.

Besides rotation on a set schedule (~7.5K miles) - I've also check my pressures every other week & inflating my supposedly crappy OEM Dunlops @ 35lbs cold all around.
Nice smooth ride & even wear (barely any).

Original Conti's on my 2010 passed PA inspection at 36000 miles. Will probably need to replace within 6 months. Brakes were also good, but again will replace with Akebono Ceramics within 6 months.
