Oil change reminder.

Other than lying to it is there a way to turn off the oil change reminders? Due to my wife's illness I only drive short, necessary trips and have no intention of changing oil every 2-3000 miles. I'll take my chances on engine failure and warranty coverage.

That's what I mean by lying to it. Telling it the service has been done. I just want to turn off or delay the message to the future.

While it may seem foolish to change oil after a few thousand miles, the time component is important. Search this forum and other sources for a definitive answer. M-B will void your warrenty for failure to follow scheduled maintenance.
DIY is a viable, lower cost option. Save receipts. Take time/date stamped digital photos of the process.
Do it right and on time. That is always cheaper in the long run.
