Where'd the oil go?

Car sitting on level ground 2-3 days. Pull the dip stick, dry, nada. Run the engine a minute, shut it off 5 min, pull dipstick, oil level full. Where was the oil hiding? Normally, if anything, oil will read a bit low after just being shut off until it drains down from the heads, etc.

This was discussed before. Try do a search on the forum. The engine has a seal that you need to break (done by pulling and pushing back the dip stick) for you to see the level of oil. The owners manual also tells you to do the same action "pull, push and pull again". Don't be alarmed it is normal.

Thanks. I've never had any luck with the search function. Usually get tons of unrelated posts that may have the word oil in them.

For the sake of accuracy...quoted with a smile.

It was now the Virginian’s turn to bet, or leave the game, and he did not speak at once.

Therefore Trampas spoke. “Your bet, you son-of-a--.”

The Virginian’s pistol came out, and his hand lay on the table, holding it unaimed. And with a voice as gentle as ever, the voice that sounded almost like a caress, but drawling a very little more than usual, so that there was almost a space between each word, he issued his orders to the man Trampas: “When you call me that, SMILE.” And he looked at Trampas across the table.

Yes, the voice was gentle. But in my ears it seemed as if somewhere the bell of death was ringing; and silence, like a stroke, fell on the large room.

Grinning. Merry Christmas, Y'all!

You don't need to start your car to get a reading. Just do it a second time and you will get the correct reading.
