Battery location.
It's been asked here before but never answered that I can find. Yes, I tried the Search and got a whole bunch of unrelated posts and no, it is not in the manual, 2011 at least. Simple question: Where is the battery and how does one access it?
I don't know why things like this are considered privileged info by MB and not to be shared with the people who pay the big bucks to keep them in business.

GLKKa has a nice pic of the location...I admit that it is better than if you take the manual out of the glove compartment, open to the index of the manual, look for battery, where it directs you to turn to pg 319....where there is a picture.

I knew there are a lot of cars where it's battery is not on the engine bay (b-class for example). First time I jumped my b-class and opened the hood I was scratching my head as I can't find the battery. Even the guy helping me juice the b-class was puzzled why the battery is missing on the engine compartment. I only found where it is after calling the dealer and was told to read the manual LOL.

Sorry but page 257 in my manual only shows the remote terminals to jump the battery with. No indication where the battery is. Ridiculous. To further lead one astray on page 256 it says "The battery is not accessible in all vehicles." Is this a general MB manual or specific to the GLK? If it's a GLK manual tell me where the hell the battery is in my GLK.

The point is that you asked in your first post where the battery was located and that you had done some searches.....that was answered and then I tried to show you where it was in the manual...so who doesn't get the point?

Upon closer examination of the actual vehicle since the manual is useless...
1. The photo provided does not exactly match our 2012 US version GLK 350. A minor point for sure. The RED positive jump start terminal is different.
2. The curvy art deco looking black plastic housing between the jump start terminals and the firewall appears to be anchored securely. It is devoid of any markings indicating that the battery is located underneath said housing. Nor are there any instructions for removing the housing to access the battery.
3. Lawyer speak wins again.
4. The next time I visit our dealer I will ask for instructions on accessing the battery in the event that we need a new one late on a Saturday afternoon and don't wish to wait for M-B Roadside Assistance on Monday morning.
This is a bad idea. Not as bad as the rear turn signals on a current E 350 wagon, but not at all user friendly. A little information never hurt anyone. Lack of information may cause difficulties in the long run.

Perhaps MB believes it's buyers would never stoop to do such plebeian tasks as checking/ replacing batteries themselves so have no need to know where the battery is. This is the toil of the driver or valet. Hence the white gloves in the spare tire area.

Lol, actually they are described as being there so that even in the occurrence of an unexpected flat tire you can show up to your destination looking sharp! I have used them several times in my C and I love that they are there!
