2010 GLK 350 4MATIC
ebrake question

ive been noticing that the Ebrake on my 2010 GLK 4matic dosent give me a whole lot of confidence when applied. all my other cars Ive owned have stayed put when on a hill when you take your foot off the brake, but not my GLK...you apply the foot Ebrake, let go of the brake and it still rolls back or forward (depending on the incline or decline) and seems like its still being held by the transmission?
anyone here have similar experiences? is this normal?

Do you step firmly on the braking pedal?

so, as I suspected....yes It still rolls back when applying firmly to the brake pedal and ebrake, not as much but still sufficiently that I'm not totally confident with the ebrake engaged

The parking brake is engaging the rear wheels. Given the hill(s) in question is not veeery steep and as you confirm pressure is firmly applied to the pedal, I think it's time for a visit at the dealer/service shop.

The parking brake of our GLK works fine (when firm pressure is applied).

Accidentally left the parking brake on the other day and the GLK would not move when in the reverse gear, even under very light throttle.

The parking brake has been ON when the vehicle was driven, pads need to be adjusted or replaced.
Try this.... find a parking lot where you can back up for a good distance. While rolling in reverse, apply and then disengage the parking pedal a number of times. Not sure in the MB, but many other parking brakes 'adjust' their tolerances with the brake applied backing up. There is a pinion cam that self adjusts. Haven't looked at my brakes as the GLK is still fairly new... let us know if that tightens up the tolerance.

His 2019 RAM Cummins Turbo Diesel Laramie; Her's 2007 ML320 CDI P3; Mine BMW R1200R
My 07 ML has this self adjust feature, so I would guess the GLK should?
I usually do this in my wife's GLK every now and then to keep the E brake firm.
As a comparison, ours holds the vehicle on any incline I have so far found. Yours may just be too far out of adjustment or worn down.

FWIW our brand new GLK has the same problem. You'll get a couple inches of 'rock' when putting the ebrake on a slight hill.
