ILS - fog lights

I have a GLK 2013 with ILS, when i switch the rear fog lights i should have 2 light indicators on the dashboard, one for the front fog lights and another for the rear fog lights.

My problem is, i never get the indication of the front fog lights on or any green indicator.

I will appreciate some help around this.

thanks folks...

Hey bud, there are no front fog lights ever since the GLK went to those LED daylight running lamps >_<

The ILS at least has corner illuminating lamps that turn on when you corner or signal below 25 mph (iirc).

Short answer, no forward fog lights on your GLK with ILS. Corner illuminating lights seem to perform the same function, which begs the question why can't they be turned on like fog lights, but I believe they are positioned too high off the ground to perform as "true" fog lights.

In fact, when you turn on the rear fog lights
the front day time running LED lights turn off

and at the back, it's only one row of maybe 4 LED bulbs on the left side

Can anyone verify the presence & function of the cornering lights in the 2013 GLK Premium Lighting System? Verify on a real GLK. Not the manual or internet hearsay. The system with the Bi-Xenon headlights and cute LED thingie above the headlights.
It is possible that the cornering lamps were omitted for 2013 on the GLK, ML, and maybe all vehicles.
I'll have to look at our 2012 GLK to determine exactly what happens when the rear fog light (singular) is activated. If the LEDs are turned off and there are no real fog lights, that is a giant leap backwards from my 2004 XC70.

i can not verify if the front LED's turn off with the rear fog (don't see why it should) but i can confirm the 2013 has cornering lights like my 2010 did. The 2013 has ILS which:

1) increases light intensity @ highway speeds
2) automatically adjust high beam
3) adjust light pattern/cutoff automatically

This i activated in command and by pushing the light stock away from you. there will be a light system with "A" on the display. This is new and not available prior to the 2013.

The auto bending/cornering lights are still there but we no front fogs.

Thanks to all...

All you have been said is true, i think, never the less we have a dashboard indicator of front fog lights, and a reference on the manual that saids "the front fog lights are on if the speed is less than 70 km/h".

mercedes, shame on you... dificult to understand.

Thanks folks...

Phil,
Are you talking about the 15 degree left-right swiveling headlights? The cornering lamps I am talking about are just that: additional halogen bulbs & reflectors in a cavity on the inboard side of the headlight housing that come on at speeds below 25 mph and either turning the steering wheel or turning on the turn signals. They are immediately visible at night. I can drive in a straight line, at or below 25 mph, and signal a turn with the flashers & the additional lamp comes on and lights up the side of the road. Apparently a Gummermint Edict may have made these illegal for 2013.

I think you're mistaking the low beam on symbol for a fog light symbol.

"The front fog lights are on if the speed is less than 70 km/h" Now that s something I have never heard. Can you tell me where in the manual it says that or a pic would be even better.

The cornering lights are actually inside the actual headlight housing now
It's just on the inner side right beside the bi-xenon's
And on top of that
The bi-xenon's themselves rotate sideways when you turn to provide maximum side illumination

I know all about that. You've described my 2012 lighting system. Is the same system present on the 2013 GLK? If you go to the 2012-2013 ML forum here, many owners are reporting that the extra halogen bulb for the cornering feature is missing.
Furthermore, the MBUSA 2013 GLK web pages make no mention of cornering lamps. However, the manual describes them exactly like the 2012 model. It would not be the first time that a manual and a web page are not in sync.

Yea the halogen bulb is on the 2013s too
But I'm driving a Canadian spec car
Not sure about US spec, maybe it's different
So what do you have in the housing for the halogen bulb then??

I drive a U.S. spec. 2102 GLK with Premium Lighting Package. Halogen Cornering Lamps present.
The talk on the W166 (2012 and newer ML) forum is about U.S. spec. 2012 & 2013 MLs with a cornering lamp socket and NO cornering lamp bulbs.
My question was about 2013 U.S. spec. GLK 350s & dedicated cornering lamps.

Thanks folks for the rapide and amout of answers...

Yes, you could be right.
At the interative manual http://www4.mercedes-benz.com/manual...ual_base.shtml on the "Exterior lights"; "inteligent light system" we have the "extended range foglamp", and yes they are not fog lamps.
I think that we should have a dashboard indicator of that. In the dashboard there is fog light indicator but is not for the "extended range foglamp" i think.

The instrument cluster amber indicator light symbol is for the rear fog light. That is all there is.

In my panel, is visible, the normal front fog lights indicator, it never gets on, but is there.
The rear fog lights indicator comes on when i press the switch close to the lights switch at left.

My concern is to the front fog indicator, it should be on when the "extended range foglamps" are on, or not?

thanks...

pROBABLY AN INOPERATIVE ICON MEANT FOR ANOTHER MARKET.
There are no front fog lights since 3 people complained to the Nanny Police that front fog lights were annoying. Same for amber LED rear turn signals.

No, as the "Extended range foglamps" mode is to be seen as an enhanced version of the "Cornering light function" mode.

Both modes are adjustments of the headlamps, and it would be a piece of cake for the MB engineers to command the front fog lights indicator on via the CAN bus, given they had been state of the art programmers - what they apparently aren't.

Thanks guys, i'm clarified.

The "extended range foglamps" don't have an indicator. I have to live with it.

The front fog indicator on the dashboard is not for "extend range foglamps", so in my car this indicator will be off forever, because i have "extended range foglamps" and not front fog lamps.

Thank you very much to all....

by the way, how do they work (extended range foglamps on GLK 2013)?, aperture, both sides, once side in each turn, or what?...
