Phone storage?

I tried to search for this to no avail - what do folks do to store their phones at the ready? Since our GLK won't stream audio via Bluetooth (even with the MM package ), my wife wants to have the phone plugged in to the ipod/iphone cable, and store the phone somewhere accessible so she can change playlists etc (i.e. not in the glovebox).

I ordered an extension iphone cable to reach the console area, but I am not finding any convenient locations to actually store the phone. Short of fabricating my own storage bin near the console, are there any other clever ideas (not inside the console)?

Ipod Vent Holder...
I use a vent holder for my Garmin.... very accessible, and as a bonus the wife doesn't like a vent pointed at her, anyway!!!! The clips just slide into the vent louvers. I do have to use the cigarette lighter for charging... but you already have the Ipod extension cord. You could work that into the dash easily. I have to say that there may be other vent holders. My Garmin one just snaps in... the ipod one pictured has ugly arms around it. Maybe there are others that you just slide the ipod in.
Here's a link to an Ipod Vent Holder

Can you put your music on an SD memory card and just leave it in the car, or download it to the hard drive of the vehicle?

I was thinking something more along these lines, maybe attached to the side of the console:

Unfortunately she wants to be able to stream and control it from her iPhone directly, so that wouldn't work...

Very very slow
How about getting an anti slip pad, cut it to size, and place it where the navi/radio screen and then put the phone/ipod on top of the pad.
The device will not slide around and easy to reach.

Yes, I was considering that as one of the options, as that area does present a convenient shelf. I'll have to see how that would work with the cable plugged into the phone, but it may work - thanks!

Have you been looking into the ProClip option: http://www.proclipusa.com/?

Note: You as well need a holder with tilt swivel, kind of what is the requirement for the phone (or MP3, or NAV, or -) in question.

We have the ProClip Angled Mount Item No. 854269 and ProClip holder for the TomTom.

Hmmm, that looks very intriguing, thanks! How do you like your setup? Does the Angled Mount feel secure and look good?

It certainly feels secure as it "snaps" on to the console. I even didn't peel off the covers of the adhesive tape - i.e use the tape. Note the "Easy to install - See how" PDF.

Looks good, hm, that depends on the Device Holder (to be purchased separately) in question, as that one, and the device, will cover (most of) the vertical plate. To us that is not an issue

On the dash ledge behind the steering wheel in front of the dialls - is where we always put the driver's phone.
In the net for the passenger.
