Filling the DEF adblue tank yourself, void warranty?
Since dealers charge such a crazy markup for the adblue topup, doing yourself seems pretty easy. However...
If you needed a warranty repair on the engine or other mechanical part, is your warranty voided because they can see you never serviced the adblue via the dealer?
I heard similar stories from owners who did not do oil changes at dealers. I'm starting to wonder if the GLK250 is ever going to see cost savings if you only drive 12k miles a year...

If you read page 158 of your manual it tells you how to add this fluid. If it voided the warranty they would not do that. Dealers charge $2 per litre in Canada for the DEF and the tank holds 27 litres.
For the A service I believe that the cost includes draining the tank and adding fresh. The difference in cost at my dealer between the gas and diesel service is $70 and both have the same capacity engine oil.

Provisions for draining the DEF tank every 20K miles or 2 yrs have been removed from the maintenance manuals for MY2013/2014. As long as you drive regularly and refill as necessary you shouldn't have to worry about DEF crystalizing. Other members have posted DIY instructions on how to best fill the tank previously. Do a quick search and save yourself 2/3 of the cost as compared to having the dealer do it.

By federal law, the manufacturer cannot void the warranty for your actions unless they can prove your actions caused a particular failure that they are refusing to repair under warranty.

Your Consumer Rights
The best way to understand your warranty rights is found on the Federal Trade Commission's website. Short answer is no it won't void your warranty if you use the proper fluid.
Here is the link for your rights and complaint procedures if you feel you aren't treated fairly.

I would not be surprised if MB has this policy "DIY service (eg oil, DEF) = warranty denial, wait for customer's lawyer..."

They have been sued enough times in other similar instances to not have this policy.
But I would keep all DEF purchase receipts.
