Hi Rascally Wabbit:
Did a whole lot of research already and world cars (sold in most continents) are prepackaged to each country defined by the country's MB HQ. Here in Canada every car receives heated front seats/steering wheel, underbody wax treatment, LED Daytime running lights automatically. In South America these are left off as are a few other 'base' options we both benefit from (possibly due to average income levels?) and some of Europe get options for comfort seats with better side bolsters, cooling and massage (they are more stressed ). Way back (1996) we loved a Saab 900S convertible and mourned having to almost give it away. But the world moves on. I would personally love to be on the formal committee that makes option decisions and optioning packages. At least in your country you are able to break apart out 3 packages and pick and choose smaller sets of options. We Have Avantgarde,Avantgarde Plus and Driving Assistance Plus. That's it. Each groups has one feature from it that I really want ( backup camera, sunroof & Headlights) so to get these I and forced to buy AMG Chrome bits, larger unneeded 20" tires, leather upholstery (do not want at all) and the list goes on.

The boxy shape of the GLK along with the RWD only option is what sold us on the purchase, living here in the Southwest at least for another year, best of the bunch after having driven various Saabs (RIP) for the last 20 years. I am simply glad that the 2015 is unchanged which will give us, when the time arrives, to search for a pre-owned GLK250 with three years production to choose. Until that time, I am on the cusp of purchasing a low mileage Jeep Cherokee XJ 4WD & then sell the GLK350. A little extreme as to the change but gotta do what you gotta do!
Gotta agree with you about the boxy shape of the GLK. Makes it the complete opposite in terms of looks compared to Audi. I'm looking forward to the 2nd gen GLK/GLC, mainly due to interior. Its a beautiful thing compared to our first gen GLK. Much more refined. Hopefully they'll have the 250 Bluetec at launch cause the petro engine is one thirsty girl.

I like the new "mini-ML" look of the new GLC. I was looking for something for my kids to drive at our vacation home, and the ML is too big for them. I really did not like the current GLK look and lack of amenities, but that looks like it will drastically improve in the new 2016 GLC. the idea of a "mini-ML" really appeals to me for this purpose. I love the ML-550's. Shame that you can't get them in the USA any longer, thanks to all the brainless enviro-nuts. There are very few 2015 GLK's to be found in Arizona any longer, as most of the inventory has been sold. I'm looking forward to seeing what the new GLC is going to be like.

Your kids might like the GLA. Sporty look and really quite a nice vehicle.

I agree with you - so I went to the dealership to look at the GLA. It's a nice vehicle - but MB classifies it as a "subcompact SUV". In other words, while it is a very nice vehicle - you can't get two full suitcases in the back of the hatch. This would make it hard for them to use it to zip to the airport and back with their luggage. I'm going to hold out for the redesigned GLK, which is apparently getting a new name.

I would wait for the new GLK/GLC if I were you (or your kids). Coming from a GLK and test-driving the GLA, it's a whole different ball game. The GLA just isn't refined enough. It's like when the original C-class came out way back when. Can't wait for the new GLK/GLC either!

The only thing this will cross over is, like almost all the other 'cross-overs' a bridge.
I'm not saying it is a bad car, probably very nice, but it is a Station Wagon of the Ford Pinto, Chevy Vega size. Oops, I used the SW word!

GLK 350-4matic today's classic. keep it

Saabs- you just made me cry. I had the pleasure of driving a white Saab 900 loaded. Aircraft bend windshield that almost never required wipers when it rained lightly, ignition by the transmission which makes such perfect sense, fold flat rear seat that somehow swallowed more stuff than most SUV's today and tires that prevent hydroplaning. Those darned Swedes knew how to build a tank.

If this is what MB is going to in the GLK design I'm very happy that I bought the 14. I like the angular look of the current model over the more rounded teardrop design that most manufacturers offer.

As much as I love my X204, I like the slightly larger size of the new one. I hope that the intro date isn't delayed- I'm off lease Sept. 2015.

I love my ML 350 Bluetec. My 4 year lease will be up next year in May, I was wondering if I should purchase a 4 year old vehicle or buy a new MB. I don't want to pay a lot for the difference. GLA looked to toyish after I drove in to the dealer. I don't like the looks and interior of the current GLK. BMW does not attract my attention. I like Q5 and if this GLC looks like a smaller version of my ML, I am ready to buy it.

As per reports so far, the interior of the GLC is supposed to be the same if not similar to the outgoing C-class, which in my opinion is gorgeous. You may want to take a look at the C-class pics. I agree with you that the GLA is like a toy and does not feel refined like how a Merc should feel.

Im actually a fan of the early 2010-2012 models due to its very sharp chissled lines...after that the car has looked more "puffy" and round...almost like if it had an anaphylactic reaction to a bee sting or something...
everything has a more roundness to it...even the interior...I love the fact that the 1st generation GLK's felt like a little tank...now its looking like a fish bowl...and the new designs are actually looking more Japanese than German. They had me at "goodbye" once they freed up the center counsel by doing away with the shifter.

I agree, the center console shifter is one of the things I love the most of my 2010 GLK compared to the newer Benz models. Don't like that minivan shifter at all.

2016 GLC/ Vance factory tours

The Mercedes USI website shows that the museum has reopened and factory tours will resume in Vance later this month. The website also shows that the plant will begin assembly of a fifth vehicle soon. It seems logical that the fifth vehicle will be the GLC. For tours to resume this month, does that mean that they will begin assembly of 2016 GLCs this month also? I hope so.

That would be great news as I'm sure I'll have to replace the GLK soon (I've noticed a burnt smell coming from it for the past few weeks :s).

PS. your name brings back some good memories. I used to live above The Pour House. Good times.

.
I do not know (if this is about new GLC) whether this is good news, since I am dreaming about another Europen Delivery. The first one was a great experience plus good savings on the vehicle price.

Oh well, it has been fun with our GLK. The new style is so much like the other jelly beans out there. Seems it has lost its edge & now will blend in with all of the others from across the Pacific. Our 2010 will likely be sold later this year & not replaced with another. If I found a used 2014 or 2015 in a couple of years with the options I want (highly unlikely) it might be time to reconsider. Recently added a low mileage & very clean '97 Jeep Cherokee (!) to the fleet which my wife actually enjoys! It is a keeper.

I'm so glad I bought my 2015 GLK, because the new look is a step backwards.

My first 2014 GLK250 was for wife, I was hoping to get second one for myself this year, but now cannot decide what to do until MB release some official information on 2016 model year ( GLK or GLC)

I would get the 2015 GLK. Every report I've seen has the 2016 as the GLC "dinner roll" (as another poster accurately described).

I was lucky to get my hands on a 2015 GLK for a couple of days while my car was being serviced...I loved it!
It looked a little more angular (similar to the 2010-2012 GLK's) had a little more "umph!" Lol
My wife and I also noticed that it had more room inside as well...still don't like the interior after 2013 but whatever...it was very nice, nice lines...I'm not a huge fan of what they did between 2013-2014 looked like a puffy happy face up front...
