2010 GLK350 ignition switch
I have what I think is a repeat problem.
In 11/12 (26,000 mi.) I had either a slow drain on the battery or a battery that would not hold a charge over-night. The dealer investigated and said the battery was still good but after a couple of days replaced the ignition switch which they said was causing an intermittent drain on the electrical system leaving the battery too low to turn over the engine.
About 9 months later in 8/13 (31,000 mi.) I am having the same symptoms. I have it at the dealer now thinking that I may have another ignition switch problem.
I have two questions: 1) How long can I expect the MB OEM battery to last (considering its location here on the Gulf Coast)?; 2) Does MB have an identified problem with excessive electrical system drain associated with the ignition switch (or any other component)?

I just got the GLK back from the dealer with a new battery (weak-dead cell in original one). The dealer said a reasonable life expectancy for the battery is 3-5 years depending on driving habits (lots of driving vs. kept as a "garage queen") and environment. Hopefully the ignition switch was a one time thing.
