That can't be the reason. The lock/unlock feature, if RF, could inadvertently open an otherwise locked car. Has to be something else.

That's exactly what bop11 said. However since you have to push and hold the button down to open the windows it's unlikely it would happen by accident plus the horn beeps every time the button is pushed.

Not quite what he said.

My horn doesn't sound when I push any buttons. In fact, I've never heard my horn! Could something be wrong with your system and remote?

horn sounding on locking the door/alarm arming is an option that can be selected to be "on or off (meaning sound horn, or don't sound horn) in your car setup menu.

I can remember the menu it's under, I can look on the way home from work...

Thanks!

Don't like those things anyway so that's why I've never looked into it on any MB I've owned!

Don't want it; don't miss it!!

Agree. The lock and unlock features are indeed RF so it is entirely possible to inadvertently unlock your car should something in your pocket press the button while you're within range of the car. That is unlikely to happen but it's actually more likely to happen than accidentally opening the windows since you have to hold the button to open the windows while unlocking the door(s) requires only a single press. I say "door(s)" with the optional S because it could be all doors or just the driver's door depending on how you have the settings configured in the car.

Ha! Just thought I'd throw my wrench into this with another detail. Ever opened the tailgate(remotely) while the vehicle is locked. You can.... and play around with the insides/ load your groceries, etc. Now close the tailgate...! The horn (if activated/see above post(Gt Dane))) will beep the standard 3 times telling you your vehicle is now safely alarmed/locked again. You would think that opening the tailgate without deactivating/unlock alarm/doors would start the alarm!!! I have yet to try opening a rear door from the inside in that senario to see if the alarm would start up!

I wouldn't think that. If the car is locked and you use the key to open the tailgate (either by pressing the button or having the key on you and using Keyless Go), you are telling the car that you are an "authorized user" because you have the key.

I suggest you have your key handy.
