Roof rail gasket p/n's?

Looking for the p/n for the gaskets where the roof rails mount to the roof. Quite surprised that MB does not list it separately from the roof rail for any of their SUV's- GLK, ML or GL. If the rails have to be removed for a roof repair & the tech accidently buggers up a gasket, does MB think the insurance company will buy a new rail ($500.mol) just for a gasket?

I would imagine that any tech working with one would just 'goop' the crap out of it with silicone and bolt it back down! If MB doesn't have a part# you could play old school and purchase some gasket material and shape one. Is your roof leaking? If you're still in warranty, visit your favourite stealership!

No leaks. Swapping out the roof rails & trying to avoid being caught with my pants down mid-way. I foolishly did not save the gaskets off of the roof rails when I had them powder coated so I have no back-ups if something goes wrong with the gaskets when I pull the black rails off. Obviously there has to be a part number & availability some where as the materials are dissimilar & the gaskets have to be attached to the rails prior to installation. Anyone here work in the factory & could snag me a set?

So the freshly powder coated roof rails are installed. Utilised the gaskets off of the black rails with a little bit of trimming. Although the two sets of roof rails look virtually identical, they in fact are made of different materials, the black are some type of plastic & the brushed finish are evidently aluminum. Surprised me to say the least. So if you are considering the swap, save the gaskets or fashion new ones. Material is a closed cell rubber foam.

How hard was it to swap out the rails? I am thinking about doing this myself, the brushed aluminum set that is.

Complexity in how the interior trim is removed as to the order of disassembly. Air bags in there too. Ours has the Pano roof so I bailed out & had a shop do it. The GLK was going in to correct shoddy work from a previous repair to rr bumper so it made sense to get it all accomplished at once. The work on the bumper was during the car's time as a dealer loaner & the paint was cracking due to the inferior work. All is right now including the new front lip spoiler but my pocket is lighter.
