Longest distance on a single tank...
Miles or Kilometers or both, just curious what is the longest anyone here has traveled on a single tank. All varieties of engines. Our 250 should be here in the next two weeks then I'll see for myself but I am curious what people here have managed...
Let the games begin...

2014 GLK 250
526 and 522 miles my last two tanks in my new 250. Mostly 70 mph too and from work 80 miles a day. And the occasional heavy foot when responding to the fire department for a call.

That's the #1 reason I changed vehicules. I would be filling the old explorer ever one and a half days too, but it was costing over 85$ (cnd). It got less than 16 mpg (us) and now I'm getting better than 39 mpg.

Achieved 480 miles when driving up to Berlin this weekend. Not great but average speed was 70 mph and that included some time driving in the small German towns and Berlin.

I didn't calculate. It was the perfect scenario-cool day (no A/C), staying strickly to speed limits and only one cold start. I think the trip computer read 41.xmpg before I reset it. I usually get around 37-38mpg per tank on my normal roads and commute. I didn't intend to stretch it out, I just intended to get back to my "home" fuel station, which is well lit and frequented by the police for a late-night fuel stop. The fuel light was on for way too long!

crazy mileage, any updates with your experience so far?
Any items starting to rattle?, mpg getting better with more mileage? how's the paint holding up? etc etc
Thanks!

trying not to hijack the thread ...

No problems so far. The paint seems REALLY brittle though. I didn't get any paint protection and I have 5-6 tiny nicks from stones on the leading edge of the Hood. I may look for a cover or deflector. Also have 4-5 nick in the Wind screen that I need to get repaired befor the winter. The upright design of the Wind screen makes impacts with rocks and gravel a problem ... but that's the "look" I liked about the GLK.
In the winter, the window heats up from the Inside and can make nicks spiderweb

No rattle or shakes. There is the problem with the rear seat latches creaking, but I'll grease those and apparently the problem is fixed.
In a week or two I'll put on Hakkapeliitta 7 SUV studded 17" tires.
Mileage Wise, I drive pretty hard, passing logging trucks and tourists on the regional highway 155. Mornings when there is no traffic (at 06h00) I get 5.9 l/100km (39.8 mpg US) and evenings, with traffic I get 6.4 l/100 or 36.7 mgp US.
Oh, ... it did take me 2 weeks to realize that the steering column is telescopic

I tow a drift boat on weekends and have no problem and mileage is almost not affected.
In stop 'n go freeway traffic jams, it is better to us the "sport" mode, so when you crawl along without touching the gas, the tranny will use first gear instead of the Eco mode (2nd gear start from a stand still).
3 months and 25,000 km and I'm still loving this vehicule

Thanks for the update. I also got a nick on the windshield after 1,500 miles. I carry a the windshield resin repair kit with me now so can patch up asap.
I can't find a deflector anywhere for the GLK, there's probably another vehicle with a similar size can use (Subaru forester , maybe
)
Might look into a 3M clear bra, pain to install

I'm re-thinking getting the 3M protection. I don't think any deflector would look good, ... then again, I keep my vehicules for at least 500,000 km's so we'll debate it here.
I have to laugh when I see that MB High Mileage badges start at 250,000 km ... I'll usually hit that in 2-3 years

I will not play this game. The previous car I have uses the fuel to cool down the in tank fuel pump. If you run almost dry in attempting to beat your previous record, you maybe setting up an early demise of the in tank fuel pump. That said, I am not sure how the GLK is set up.

FWIW, my brother in law is getting over 700 per tank in his newly minted Diesel Cruze!!
