The story of our Glk

Hey everybody this this is my first post ever on this forum and i would like to say hello to all before i start my story. In 2010 I saw my very first glk350, since then I've always wanted one, and was very close to getting one but my wife was very worried that if it ever broke down or something went wrong it would be costly to fix.....we bought a 2011 honda crv Ex-l with navi instead. 3 years later we finally decided we should get one and we did. Around February we purchased our first mercedes-benz a 2013 glk350 it was polar-white with black mb tex equipped with the multimedia package, premium1 package with sunroof and appearance package. We were able to get 8% off msrp which left a total of around 40,000 dollars for the car. After taking ownership of the car for three weeks I found my self needing to clean the car every 3-4 days because of how dirty it got with all the bugs and yellow dots that was very hard to remove. Going in to the fourth week I noticed right when I was walking to my car in the parking lot there was a long 1 foot scratch where the paint was clearly gone exposing parts of black on the rear right side of my bumper. I knew somebody had backed out of the parking space and clipped the side of my car and drove away. Sadly there wasn't any surveillance tapes that caught them in the act. I went to the dealership and they did a quick repaint for 379.00 which they did an excellent job. One month later I was backing out of a parking space and as I was half way through another driver decided to back out as well so I stopped because I saw there reverse lights on ,and as I stopped the driver of the other vehicle reversed to fast backing their truck into my car leaving the bottom part of the bumper with a huge dent. After the incident the whole bumper was replaced and I immediately whent to church to have my car blessed by a priest. Well two months later I was stopped at a traffic light ready to make a right turn and before I could even move to proceed to make my right turn I felt a small push followed by a thud. As I got out of my car I saw that the left side of my rear bumper was scratched severely once again and the reflector had broken off 500 dollars later the bumper was repainted and good as new(they had to take apart bumper to see for anymore damage).I started to hate the car and told myself that ill trade it in for a different one and get rid of all this bad luck. Sadly I waited two long ,I was on my way to visit a friend and just as I crossed an intersection a driver who was yielding to make a right turn didn't see me coming and proceeded forward hitting me. The damage this time was multiple scratches and a large chunk of my rim and side wall of my tire missing on the passenger side rear rim. Also my bumper was scratched once again. After the whole rim was replaced and bumper repainted the following day I went to the mercedes benz dealership to trade in my car originally for a palladium silver glk without the appearance package. As I walked into the dealership I saw a pebble gray glk with almond/mocha interior which I immediately took interest to. After discussing with the salesperson about the trade in value of my car and how much the new car will be(pebble gray glk) I noticed many people out off all the cars in the showroom floor, were going into the glk, messing around with it and slamming doors which made me upset and the salesperson noticed that, so thankfully he locked the car and made sure no one went into it ,but at the same time there was another couple who was interested in buying the car so I had to really hurry up and try to get the best deal as I could. Two hours later I bought the car with 3,000 dollars of msrp. I am now a happy owner of a 2014 mercedes benz glk350, pebble gray, almond/mocha Mb-tex equipped with multimedia, premium1, and interior ambient lighting package. one month later the car is very clean and i only need to clean it every 2 weeks depending on how dirty it is. Also i had Ibex put on my car which is basically like never wet which goes on to the exterior and interior of the car, It gave the car a silky felling to the outside and as for interior I didn't see any difference, but on the bright side all insects and dirt wipes right off easily compared to before. I payed about 800 dollars for it and it has a seven year warranty. I apologize for my grammar very late at night and I'm very bored. Goodnight all!!

Wow, that is quite a story. I sincerely hope that this GLK is much less of a magnet for bad drivers than your last one.

I believe taking a defensive driving course will help you and your new GLK 350.

I took one, it helped a lot in terms of best ways to improve your own driving AND avoiding bad drivers.

when I say good or bad drivers, I don't mean those who can or cannot drive double speed into a ramp with good controls, i mean inconsiderate or those who do road rage or have no safety concerns of themselves and others on the road.

jiwengang is correct. My company makes us take a Smith System Driving course every year. We have people who drive semi's, leased vehicles, stake and platform trucks and rentals. If you drive for work, even on business trips, you take the course. It basically teaches a mind set and not techniques. It has 5 key, 1 Aim High, 2 Get the big picture, 3 Keep your eyes moving , 4 leave yourself an out and 5 Make sure they see you. It is about 2 hours in a class and 3 hours on the road with class size of 5 employees and the instructor. It looks like you need to practice number 5. We are taught to insure eye contact even by a quick "toot-toot" on the horn. I've taken it 6 years in a row and still learn.
The course has reduced our corporate incidents significantly.
And make sure you leave the phone in your pocket.
Did you know that the average driver backs less than 1% of the time yet more than 30% of the accidents happen in reverse?

Sorry to hear about your white GLK. Hope you settle down with the pebble grey GLK. I am happy that I picked pebble grey GLK. My white C-coupe was very hard to keep clean. Now I can careless of my GLK. I think it looks about the same whether it is clean or dirty. hahaha!
