2014 GLK 250 BT
Has anyone with the factory tow package installed a trailer brake controller?

Hi all,
I have a 2014 GLK250BT with the factory tow package and am thinking about adding a trailer brake controller.
I think that in the best of all worlds, MB would have added the wiring harness, relays and fuses to support a controller since the trailer plug has a pin for a brake controller. Does anybody know the actual state of affairs, or better yet, installed a controller on the factory tow package?
The aftermarket guys have a lot of information about installing a controller from scratch but I haven't found any information like I am seeking.
Cheers,
Mike

I may be wrong so someone correct me if so- the factory set-up does interact with your GLK's stability & brake system, something that the aftermarket applications does not. If that is the case & there is a pin for the trailer controller on the harness, is the installation of a brake controller redundant? Good question anyway!

What are you planning on towing to require that?

Some States require 3500 pound trailers to have brakes. I read in another posting that the connector does not have the wiring to control electric brakes even though the pinouts suggest it. Apparently the OP is reaching out to Bremen to see if there's a simple wiring fix. Knowing MB I have my doubts.

A gaggle of MB's
Back the truck up - you can have added brake from the trailer by electrical hookup - the proportional brake controller adds more proportionate brake control - that's all.

No - there are not that many people adding proportional brake controllers to a GLK hitch - if you do you can use wireless ...

RF brake controller sounds like the least effort and possibly best solution.
Thanks, fabbrisd1
