Red face Winter Tires 255-60-17 on GLK350?

Hello to all,

Was wondering if 255-60-17 winter tires (Pirelli Scorpion and Ice) would fit on a GLK350 2011.

Thanks in advance. (New here and need help!)

Suggest you visit http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp and plug in your parameters.

Are you running stock 17" wheels? (which I have listed as 7.5Jx17 H2, Offset 47.5)

255/60 may be a bit too wide for 7.5" rims. I don't have a guide for this, but I'd check with a local tire shop.

When I plug in your tires vs. OEM size of 235/60R17 on stock wheels, I get:

"Suspension: Package is 10 mm (0.4'') closer to suspension/brakes components. Acceptable for most cars.
Fenders: Package will stick out 10 mm (0.4'') farther. Acceptable for most cars.
Wheelwells: Will fill out the wheelwell by extra 12 mm. Acceptable for most cars"

Hope this helps

BTW -- a wider 255 tire vs. a 235 will give you LESS performance in wet, slush and snow. The narrower tire will bite down deeper and shed more slush, etc. than the wider tire. If you are concerned about best winter performance, the narrower tire would be a better choice.

Thanks for the reply.

The obvious response I got from a couple of MB dealers was "don't attempt to install" (funniest was "your dashboard lights will be lit like a Christmas tree" if you do install)

I decided to buy the OEM size of 235 60r17 Nokian Hakkapeliitta 7 SUV (wanted the Pirelli Scorpion Ice & Snow but was convinced to buy the Nokians)

I'll be driving in challenging weather and decided go ahead with the narrower option.

Thanks again.

Hakka 7s -- excellent choice! I have these in a 18" studded version for my GLK which you can see at https://mbworld.org/forums/glk-class...ed-photos.html
