Retrofit Ambient light in dash?
Has anyone checked into this at all for a 2013? I'm curious as to what it would entail. It seems like there is already the clear channel under the trim where the ambient "waterfall" dash illumination would go. Seems like it would be fairly easy to buy a piece of EL-wire or whatever and illuminate that (if it isn't already built in there). I was surprised the clear channel is there are not a solid filler piece of some sort.
Any thoughts or resources anyone would suggest?
Thanks!

In the 2013 US model, the ambient lighting was only available with the leather seating package. In later models, it is now a standalone feature for $300USD retail. But we have the MB-Tex seats. We have black seats and a black interior ... so it is quite dark at night inside, and my wife prefers a bit more backlighting. There are no lights in the footwells either.
But the 'clear' strip under the lip of the wood trim on the dash that emits the ambient light does exist in the car. So the thought is ... perhaps it is only a matter reprogramming the car or adding a bulb (or LED strip) to light up the translucent strip that already exists.
