New to me GLK350

Good morning all,

Looks like you folks have a pretty good forum Long story short, wife has been wanting a GLK350 for some time now, so we finally gave in and picked up a 2012 model yesterday.

This is our first Mercedes ever, so we are just looking for some helpful tips and things to 'watch for' etc...

A few immediate things I'll be looking for would be a front license plate bracket (car came out of Florida and I'm in Texas..gotta have them down here). Do most people go with an aftermarket mount or the OEM MB mount? I've also been doing some Googling trying to run down the OEM part number on this and I've been running in circles. Can anyone point me in the right direction for a website to nail down OEM part numbers?

Also, car only came with one key (the used dealer is trying to locate the 2nd). Anyone have any idea what I'm up against getting a 2nd key? I've had to do this with other makes in the past and have usually ordered them online and programmed them myself, but this MB is a new creature to me....probably not that simple. This is not the 'smart' key that you can just have in your pocket, this is the one that you stick into the dash and turn. Also I should point that we did not buy this from a MB dealer, not a certified pre-owned, etc., so I can't go back to the dealer and get the second key. Am I forced to go to the MB dealer for my extra key? I did a bit of searching in prior posts and it looks like that I should be expecting around $300 or so if I get a replacement key from dealer...is this still the norm?

Thanks in advance for your replies!

It's always helpful to show your country of residence in your profile.

If you are in the US you can subscribe to EPC where you have all parts listed for your application.

https://epc.startekinfo.com/epc/home.jsp

You can go to ANY dealer and with you VIN number, have them order you a key.

You might ask the used car dealer if he would split the cost of the key since he can't find it. These keys are so large that no one in my family wants to carry around a key they don't use. I have never used the second key for either of our cars, and they are stored in a drawer. The used keys hang on a hook for use by who ever.
Check the spare tire area for that license plate bracket. In Pa we don't use the front, but most cars come with it anyway. I think mine had it, but I put it somewhere 3 years ago.
