2012 GLK350 - Pickup Today!
This is my first post on here. I wish I had joined sooner since I have been a Benz owner for the past 6.5 Yrs. I have a 2004 C320 Coupe.. Loved my car for this entire time EXCEPT in the winter in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Today I'm finally saying goodbye to it and trading it in for a 2012 GLK 350 with all the bells and whistles (Navigation, Sunroof, Push start, etc.).
I believe the tires are brand new Pirelli all seasons. I've been thinking of maybe getting winter tires but on the test drive it didn't feel like I needed them. Any recommendations on the first steps of owning a GLK? I think I will also invest in 3M Scotchgard. Thanks in advance to the warm welcome to the forum and to the GLK family!
Enjoy your new ride

Is it a 4matic? ...
Even if it is, you might seriously consider getting a set of winter tires (and wheels). All seasons are good in rain, but really don't cut it below 5 degrees celcius ... something you'll get a lot of in Edmonton

I put in the OEM molded plastic floor mats to collect slush and sand. Everthing else is stock.
have fun !! ... I am with over 43,000 km in the past 6 months.
Yes it's 4matic. I was surprised with the advertised Parktronic; I thought it would park the vehicle for me but that isn't the case. It also doesn't have a backup camera which I was looking forward to also. I recall the dealership telling me that it had all of this. Nonetheless I LOVE THIS VEHICLE!!
The winter tires that will fit 235/45/20 are pretty much only Pirellis and they're damn expensive. I will definitely get the 3M Scotchgard installed. Any other recommendations by anyone?
I prefer a second set of wheels as the mounting/dismounting of tires onto the rims seems hard on the bead. I can also do the twice annual tire swap myself too this way.
I didn't get the 3m, but might regret it. Already have a couple tiny nicks in on the leading edge of the hood. I drive 95% highway on a regional road (Qc 155).
Cheers!
Chris.

Welcome.
I think you should invest in another set of winter tires.
Those 20 tires are not good in winter especially when they are worn out little bit.
You can check to see if your car is equipped with a backup camera or not by checking at the back of vehicle. It should be above the licensed plate, slightly to the left side.
If it is not there then your car does not have a backup camera.
Since your car has a navigation system, then you can add a backup camera, if you're handy enough. There is a write up on it by bop11 in this forum.
