Thanks for this great post ! I am motivated to try this. I will be ordering parts by next month as I am out of money this month. I have a 2014 GLK350. Not sure @hondafan if you are online these days. I could use some help here. Attaching a pic of my car. Halogen headlights. I will be posting another video DIY on iPhone mirroring and backup camera thanks to @mbworld.

Did you hear back from dealers what did they say ?
Ummmm ya - I have these same headlights and want to just buy the intelligent lighting parts and replace the whole light.
I want the LED strip on the inside too.
I am gonna call the dealer and parts department and ask them if possible and how much they would charge so I can get a baseline price

Hmm, what about DOT certification for light pattern and throw? I'd hate to have the authorities ask me to remove them. I think it would show up as a problem if oncoming drivers are feeling blinded by your lights. Could be an issue.

this is for the 2013-2015
Im on the fence about either doing a retro fit about $400-500 in parts with buying spare headlights off ebay or buying the winpower lights for $900 or so. I've done retro fits before so it shouldn't be an issue.
The other option is to get a used set of OEM HID headlights for about $700-800. The connectors are the same for both headlights so that shouldn't be an issue. The only issue is error codes. You would think this should just be an easy issue of coding. But can't find a any info about disabling it on the internet. The AFS and all the i dont care about and the light should function like a normal headlight.

Sorry it's been a while since I've gotten on mbworld.
When doing a proper retrofit you don't blind other drivers. That's the whole point of doing a retrofit in the first place. You won't attract attention in the first place because you're installing the same equipment that a manufacturer puts in their OEM cars too. Not true for the leds and halos, but that's becoming common inside of headlights now too.
In terms of just plugging in the new AFS bixenon from a car with the lighting package, it won't exactly be plug and play, as the c class harness was different for the lighting package or non-lighting package. The connectors are indeed the same though. I won't remember but someone with WIC or the dealer service program and computer can get the wiring diagram for both. I have it but it's in my shop and I haven't used it on a car in a little while. If I remember the next time I have it out I'll post it here.
Anyway you'll need to wire in a canbus harness to eliminate errors just for the low beam and that's all you'd need to change if you don't care about AFS.
I'll log in a bit more just to see if I can help. I sold the GLK and went to a GL550 and did a full GLE LED retrofit on that one. It turned out amazing, but recently got the wife a Q5 to replace the GL. Let me know how I can help as I know the stock GLK lights were terrible.

It's been a few years since anyone has posted on this thread, has anyone figured out how to convert the standard 'filament' lighting package to a projector bi xenon without throwing error codes for the X204 circa 2013 models?

Are you open to doing this upgrade on my glk250 headlights? I can't stand the halogens and the other lights that are out there are far more inferior to what you used. I'll be willing to pay what you need to get the job done and take care of shipping obviously. Thanks in advance.

Great Writeup and detailed explanation.
Have you done or tried to retrofit the projectors on w212 Pre-facelift ? The voltage on the wiring is 6V for activating high beam, however the raftermarket projectors need 12V to lift the shutter of the projector.
Couldnt get the voltage and had to abandon the project for a while.
Can someone help ? I sell these Bi-Led projectors and have retrofitted them on BMWs & Audis but cant get it to work on my own car.
