2010 GLK 350 Lug Bolts

Hey guys .. question:

I have a 2010 GLK 350 with 20" OEM rims. I have fallen victim to the "rusting lug bolts" ... and naturally my 4 year warranty ran out in December, which would have otherwise covered this "aesthetic" defect. Anyway, there is no way I am paying $12 a bolt from the dealership ... ludicrous.

So here is my question:

The stock OEM lug bolt part number is: 0009905307

It is a 14x20x1.5 mm bolt.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mercedes-Whe...78c09d&vxp=mtr

I was wondering if anyone knows some aftermarket bolts that are a fraction of the price, but fit just fine.

According to eBay .. these bolts will fit .. but 1. They look different (the thread that is) and 2. The mm is different.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/20-Chrome-Lu...5a99ab&vxp=mtr

Can someone please shed some light onto this situation and let me know what will work for me?

Thanks,
Brandon

Why Bother?

Lug bolts are a critical safety item on any vehicle. I've seen aftermarket bolts that shear off when tightened to 100 lb-ft. Who knows what you are buying off of eBay. Bite the bullet and buy ones that at least are strong. It is not worth the risk. And if they are 8mm longer, they probably will rub on something inside the hub.

I'm sure there are lug bolts out there that are both reasonable and safe without bending to the stealership robbery. I did a simple google search and found plenty... Tirerack(sponsor on here) for one...
here's another

Any decent auto parts shop will carry decent quality lugs...

Perhaps other euro car lugs like vw?

But be sure shape of head is correct and that they seat properly in rims.

New ones will rust just like the old ones. Buy plastic nut caps, available in silver, black & possibly other colours. Kits usually have the removal tool included & cost will be less than a twenty dollar bill plus shipping.

I have experience in this, as I have a winter package... so I switch twice a year back and to winter and summer rims.

You need to buy the OEM Mercedes lug bolts. The 2 mm is a big difference. The lug bolts are what keep your tires on your vehicle. You don't want your tires rolling off when you're speeding like 80 mph on the highway. Its like a $50 difference between aftermarket and OEM, but it's worth the price for safety.

Plus, the OEM lug bolts can withstand the standard 110 Torque. Most lug bolts or nuts (in Toyotas) are tightened to 70-90 Torque. Any more than that and the lug bolt / nut will break.

Some things you can buy aftermarket on the GLK... but others, you cannot.

I just had my lug nuts replaced (under warranty). My service advisor told me that Mercedes-Benz knew of this problem and corrected it by now making all black lug nuts. Apparently this is what is being sold on the new models. At first I thought I wouldn't like black but you really don't even notice it.

Hey, ECS Tuning (ecstuning.com) has genuine Mercedes lug bolts for around $3.50 a piece. Hope this helps.

Hi Brandon:
I have a 2014 - GLK250 and its was DELIVERED in JAN30th
and lugs are ALREADY looks like the 'rusting'

Lugs are what keep you WHEELS on and you SAFE> and YES 2mm it does make BIG difference (like someone else wrote above) if you like me - live at SEA COAST , than only way you not getting 'rusty lugs' are PURE STAINLESS , and that too me 'extreme buy'

ALSO::
I looked @ that link you have @FleeBay... and it says its NOT SUITABLE for GLK (at least for my model)

So my suggestion would to be the OEM ones ( that's what I always do)
