Car DVR
How did you power it? Snaking a cable to the glove box or?

But thanks to one of the members in here, I am now using my iphone as a dashcam.
The recording quality is very good.
I'm guessing a lot of members here do own a smart phone, so why not use it as dashcam too.

Sutomo's recommendation led to some good forum info. I didn't want a replacement mirror so I ended up looking at an Ambarella chipset on that site. It comes in a really tiny unit which seems appealing from an inconspicuous mounting point of view. They seem to run around $100 to $120. It is titled "Dashcam Mini 0801 with GPS" on the page. You can search Amazon for the same using DVR Ambarella Mini 0801 and pull up the same Chinese unit by ePrance. Someone there, following my nose, recommended the Cobra CDR 810 to avoid the China headaches and it seems to be a nice unit but a bit bigger.
Another choice seems to be the Garmin GDR35 which seems nice, but a slightly larger unit than the Ambarella (everything is). It will accept a second lens plugged in for a rear view if desired. This is a nice plus. Also, you're dealing with an American company that understands support. It's closer to $200 though.
So - lots of choices in what seem to be decent units. Haven't decided. A lot of pro's and con's.
Seems kind of gruesome to me...
