I replaced the tailgate on a 2014 GLK350. Everything worked with the old gate. I have everything hooked up except the rear glass (needs to be transferred), and the trim panel. However, I closed the gate and it won't open. Is there something I'm missing? Does everything have to be hooked up to complete the circuit? Is there a fuse for the door handle? I need to be able open and close the gate so I can align it before everything is back together.

 

It may not open electrically, but you can manually over-ride the electrical s by just lifting with some force. That is unless you did something to the latch mechanism. When you buy one of these and didn't have an electrical lift gate, it takes awhile not to close the thing by just pushing it down. You can hear it ratchet but it does not damage the mechanism. Not sure how to open a jammed latch.

 

Issue has been resolved. Mercedes dealer said the hatch has to be programmed. Also the latch had to be replaced, either it was affected by the accident or it went bad.
