HomeLink Garage Door Connection

HomeLink Garage Door Connection
I just changed the code for our garage door opener remotes and they worked perfectly. I then tried the HomeLink in the car (which I assumed would NOT open the garage door) and it opened! How is this possible if I changed the codes on the remotes? I've read throughout this forum that people spend hours trying to get this right. What did I do wrong? I have a 2014 GLK 350.
Thanks!

I'm not an expert on those systems but my explanation would be that the HomeLink in your car is paired with the garage door opener, just like the remotes are paired to it as well. The HomeLink system does not imitate an existing remote, so recoding the remotes should have no effect on HomeLink.

You need to reset the main garage door opener to make all of the remotes non-operational. There is a rest button on the back side of the garage door motor. Push that for a few seconds and you need to reprogram all of your remotes including the glk homelink.
