GLK 2010 @ 90K MILEAGE. COAST TO COAST.
My GLK high mileage project.
END of JANUARY 2015 @ 46K MILES.
I'm new to the forum and never owned a Benz before. I'm buying a used GLK for [21,200.00 USD]. it is approximately @46,000 miles, the last time it was serviced was @43,000 (according to the previous owner). this is my first Benz, I'm looking forward it lasting me a while and ill do my best to maintain this car. any tips advises? i drive to work every day, i drive about 4,000 miles a month. I'm thinking about doing oil changes every 15,000 miles. I will be using Royal Purple 5w-40. what do you guys think? any tips on getting it to last longer? my goal is to have the highest mileage GLK. ill update my my mileage and how much i spend on the car. stay tune guys and ill be looking forward to your guys responses.
MIDDLE of FEBRUARY 2015 @48K MILES.
I went to my local Honda and Toyota mechanic, I didn't know he works on German cars. I chatted with him for a few hours and decided to get more Mercedes Benz dealer parts and fluids. My front rotors are worn out and rusty, and my break pads aren't OEM so i'll be switching those out. So these are the services I'll be performing for my car.
+Mercedes Benz brake pads + rotors for front.
+Mercedes Benz brake fluid flush.
+Mercedes Benz coolant flush.
+Mercedes Benz transmission filter replaced.
+Mercedes Benz differential fluid change.
+Mobil 1 5w40 motor oil change.
@60K MILEAGE SERVICE
I'll be selecting my own products to use on my benz on this service, I read a lot of good things about Royal Purple and decides to use most of their products for my fluids. The following products is what I'll be using on my benz until I find something better I suppose. Any comments about them ?
- Royal Purple 05540 SAE 5W-40 RP Series Oil - 5 Gallon Pail
- Mann Filter (CUK 29 005) Carbon Activated Cabin Air Filter
- Royal Purple 01326 Max EZ High Performance Synthetic Power Steering Fluid - 12 oz.
- Mann-Filter HU 718/5 X Metal-Free Oil Filter
- Royal Purple 01600 Purple Ice Super-Coolant Radiator Additive - 12 oz.
- Red Line (60103) Complete SI-1 Fuel System Cleaner - 15 Ounce
- Rain - X Latitude WIPERs
- Hengst Fleece Oil Filter Kit
