side marker light trouble

Here is my problem....side marker light error
tried to replace bulb as directed in manual...unfortunately, as I inserted the bulb holder w/new bulb, the socket w/2 wires got pushed forward. I can't get it back in place. I don't care about the light, I just want the message gone. I grabbed the 2 wires and spiced them hoping that by completing the circuit, I could eliminate the message...but no.
Any ideas?

Is there a fuse just for the side markers?
Am I thinking wrong jumping the 2 wires?

something so simple creating big problem.

You definitely did not do the right thing connecting the two wires together. You would need to connect a resistor between the wires with the equivalent resistance of the bulb to "compensate." Take it to the dealer and have it fixed properly.

Don't know if there is a fuse just for the side markers but you did blow a fuse.

I know that I will need a resistor to compensate...I'll try a led replacement rather than pulling the entire lamp out for the repair.
...no fuse gone...still power coming in.

Any other suggestions?

...no way will I go to stealership for an electrical fix.
