Faulty brake sensor
I figured I start a new thread for this. Long story short, if you have "Check Brake Pad Wear" it does not mean you need new pads, you might just need new sensor. If you want full story read on, but it's not that exciting.
Last year in very cold temps (3-5F) the "Check Brake Pad Wear" message came on once or twice.
This winter it started coming on more often and in warmer temps, to the point that now it would come on every time I start the car.
I read that if the sensor comes up it's time get the brakes replaced, and I'm at 54k miles on the original brakes, so perhaps it's time. I ordered pads, rotors and sensors. I pulled both sensors out and they are looked fine. Inside pads looked 50%. I replaced the front sensor and not more warning message.
What do I do with OEM pads or rotors now? If anybody in NJ needs them happy to sell for what I paid for them. About $420 for front and rear OEM rotors and OEM pads.
