I have a 2014 GLK 250, US version that came stock with the run flats. I am purchasing some winter wheels/tires and trying to decide whether I need the TPMS or not. I really don't care if the dash shows the tires low. My question is this: How does this vehicle react to no TPMS? Will it just ping me once when I turn it on or keep chiming at me as I drive?
I have read conflicting info, seems like it depends on what type of TPMS I have.
My winter wheel/tire combo. have no TPMS sensors installed. Each engine start, after a few miles or minutes, I get a message on the display. I clear it with the okay button and then get a small exclamation mark symbol that lights up constantly in the lower part of the guage. Doesn't bother me at all but your mileage may vary...
Nothing audible. No chime or reminder chime.
NOTE: I have a 2014 U.S. spec. 350

^ This. You first get a warning in the middle of the speedo screen after a couple of minutes, which you can clear with the OK button - at which point only the yellow warning reamins regardless of what kind of TMPS system you have.
