General discontinued model service
As a new MB (used) GLK owner who was well aware of an upcoming model replacement this year/next year, do I have an issue with getting service and part for my 2011 GLK 4-Matic?
Most companies carry parts for many subsequent years and will gladly do service but does MB have a policy on how long they will do so? Say a standard 5 years after a model is discontinued...

I have had no trouble getting parts for any Mercedes even quite a bit older than 10 - 20 years old. There are a large quantity of older MB's on the road and many if not most of the owners appreciate the higher quality automobile and keep up on their parts needs. I was recently looking up and easily finding parts for mid-80's diesels and they are 30 years old.

I would not worry at all. Mercedes invented the car as we know it. They aren't going ANYWHERE. If you look at what cars are still around from the 60s and up, it's Mercedes sedans and a few air-cooled VW Beetles and Porsches. They will gladly make parts, or allow patent parts to be made by aftermarket suppliers.
You will tire of the car and its outdated electronics well before parts are ever hard to come by.

Gawd no... there are so many GLKs around that MB (or even aftermarket suppliers as the car ages) will continue to make parts for many more years. You'll be EASILY able to get new parts for it for the next 15+ years.
