GLK Won't Start - Code: A254

2000 CLK320 Coupe & 2010 GLK350
GLK Won't Start - Code: A254
This morning I went to start the car, and the engine makes no attempt to turn over. Lights and the instrument panel turn on, however, windows wont go down. Ran the codes and came up with A254 (electrical steering lock fault). The steering does feel like its locked up and wont release when you insert the key. The key does rotate to start and snaps back to on like normal.
10/2009 GLK350 50,000miles.
Anyone else have a similar issue? Fix?

See the attached tsb...
If you are at/over 50K miles - if you have had dealer service in the past 18 months - call Roadside Assistance which will cover your tow to a dealer.
If you are at/over 50,001 miles - then best to shop for the best cost of a tow to the dealer - you can ask Roadside what their tow cost will be as a benchmark

Thank you for the response! The car is out of warranty and over 50,001 miles. I got it started after banging on it (literally) a few times. I'm not sure how the steering lock is designed on this, but it seems like the lock was stuck in a position and needed some motivation. Could have been pure coincidence I suppose...
