It's located on rear of engine compartment passenger side...it's enclosed in a plastic box. You can get a battery anywhere. Just tell the seller the car that you have and they will give you the correct type that will fit in the space. If you have a choice, get one that has the highest cold crawl rating.
If you have no idea what to do, call the MB roadside assistant...but they charge about double for what you would pay DIY.

It might be a good idea to take a look at your owners manual...all kinds of information there.

If you change it yourself, don't forget to use a jumper battery to keep power on the computer or you will be resetting a whole bunch of things. Not hard just time consuming.

Owners manual does not show battery location along with numerous other things that should be in it but aren't.

It does show where the battery jump start location is for when you're in a no-start situation like the O.P. Also, once in that area, the slightly curious would probably locate the battery.

There is a plastic housing for the passenger air intake above the battery that needs to be unclipped and moved out of the way. I think it has 3 spring clips to release by hand or with a small screwdriver. Easy to do.
The battery is an AGM type battery. A large battery store like Interstate will have it but not a Costco or WalMart type store. They are a bit expensive ($150 to $225) but it needs to be the exact fit. A regular "flooded cell" filled with acid won't work.
To hold the charge of your electronics a small charge maintainer can be used but I don't think pulling and replacing leads to a restore Armageddon as suggested. The battery store might have one if you ask - or even change the battery for you. I know Interstate offers this.
There are two jump points on the fender wall near the battery for a jump. The positive terminal is reached by sliding over the red cap and the negative is a tall brass colored stud nearby.
