Hard wire radar detector

Has anyone hardwired a radar detector on the GLK? Any tips? Or pictures showing how you did ?

There are posts on this if you search. You can not use the wires in the overhead as in the old days because these wires are all fed from the processor. Most cut into the 12V outlet in the glove box, feed the wire up the A pillar, and across the front of the head liner. One nice advantage is that the socket is only on with the key so the detector goes off when you turn off the vehicle.

I also didn't hardwire my valentine 1. In all my past vehicles I've been able to plug in in the glove box, since thats not an option with the GLK I purchased a longer telephone cord (power source) and ran it under the side of the headliner by the door all the way to the trunk. I then used the 12-V plug in the trunk as the power-source so I didn't have to look at the plug.

I have 2 issues with my current set-up:
1) The ECO function turns off the radar decor with the engine...slightly annoying since it beeps loudly a bunch whenever the engine "restarts"

2) My radar detector came with an absurdly large plug..so it sticks out quite a bit in the trunk area, so i have to be careful when loading the trunk as to not hit/damage it.

Since you are never going to remove that wire , why not cut the plug off and wire it to the back of the socket? Then you won't be bothered with not damaging it.
I have a 2010, did they eliminate the 12 volt socket in the glove box? There should also be one at the back of the center console.
