Voltage and Current on Main Cluster
Came across a handy feature for displaying continuous voltage and current on the main display. Good tool for checking your charging system.
1. Close all doors and hood.
2. Key to "1" position. (on but not started)
3. Mileage display on main cluster. Won't work in other modes.
4. Press Right arrow key (on steering wheel left control) until "Trip" display shows on bottom of display.
5. Immediately, Hold down Accept Call and Hangup simultaneously on the right wheel controls and then press OK on left side for 5 or 6 seconds.
6. This brings up three options, Vehicle data, Assyst Plus, And Dynamometer.
7. Select Vehicle data. UB = main battery voltage and IB equals total current.
You may have to try this a couple of times as the timing of selecting Trip on the left, holding down Accept and Hangup on the right, and hitting and holding OK on the left is a little tricky, but it is a great troubleshooting tool. There is also a bunch of other data on the car available by scrolling down through the options.
Note that you can pull up this display before you start the car and it will stay on the main cluster while you drive. It will go away when you stop and open a door.
Not sure if this works for all years and models but works great on my 2013 350.
