Takta Airbag Recall Slow Response
Hi,
I was curious if anyone has tried contacting MB regarding the replacement airbags for the takata debacle? I don't like knowing that there's a chance my car can shoot shrapnel at me if I were to be in an accident. I tried contacting MB USA via a letter to complain that I've been waiting over a year for a fix and they mailed be back. I've attached the letter. Doesn't this seem like they are side-stepping the issue by blaming the rest of the auto industry? I'm glad they've had no reports of ruptured inflators in the field but even knowing there's a chance is bad in my opinion.
Thoughts?

MB told me that it was voluntary and no incidents has been reported, they are still determining what course of action to take. This makes me think that they are taking their time and waiting on the settlement from the manufacture of the air bags before they do anything

We all wait and I think it's crappy service. I didn't buy airbags from Takata. I bought a complete car from Mercedes. I don't select the subs and I can't control their behavior or lack of it. I blame Mercedes. What they should do is get airbags from someone else and just replace them all. They'll get a lot of brownie points in the marketplace and this will be behind all of us. They're trying to save money while crossing their fingers hoping no one gets hurt - or worse. It's on them totally.

I got a card from MB on 1/26 that says they will notify me when the parts are in. No estimate or any other info. My lawyer has it in case something happens in the meantime.
