The satisfaction of a job well done

Took my car to a self-service garage today, hoisted it up on the lift and worked on it for the first time (aside from installing the block heater last year).

Changed the oil, filter, air filter and cabin filter. Took my time and it took me around 2 hours. I wasted a lot of time fiddling with the oil filter housing, until I realized the shop had the proper socket/wrench on hand, and I must've searched for the oil drain plug for 5 minutes...

Fitting the cabin filter turned out to be aut aggravating, but I got it done after contorsioning my body in a very kama-sutra-esque position under the dash.

Hopefully I don't wake up tomorrow to a puddle of oil in the driveway!

Always a satisfying feeling when doing it all yourself. Hope everything went smoothly, next time take the time to do a nice DIY (once you do your first one with photos, you won't want to stop)

enjoy the fresh fluids!

I know, I should've done that. It's just that it was my first time, and with the place costing 20$/hour, I wouldn't quite have had time to do it properly.

I will have to find an oil filter housing wrench. It needs to be a 14-flat wrench, and auto parts stores here only have 15-flat ones. Go figure...

Yup. Found it on Amazon.

I'll order a door trim removal tool kit as well, and I'm very tempted by an EZ Oil Drain Valve.

Honestly, for roughly 30$, that would save me the aggravation of reaching for the valve, untightening it, and praying for the oil to fall exactly in my recycling pan.

Yes, I know, I could also use a topsider, but I have one, and so far I haven't been impressed (I think my oil was too cold when I tried it).
