Have 2. A 2008 E350 and a 2011 GLK350.

When accelerating from a stop and making a left or right turn, I often hear a loud thug and a vibration in the rear of the vehicle. It is 2011 GLK350 with 85,000+ miles.

350 GLK, C280
Probably a bad CV joint in one of the rear half shafts. Half shafts are available from Auto Zone for about $200 but may not be a do it yourself job.
