Bluetec DEF Motor Noise

Aloha....I was wondering if anybody with a Bluetec notices the DEF pump whine (not high pitch noise just very noticeable) immediately after turning the vehicle off.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciate....

Mahalo,
Tor

I don't notice any DEF pump noise at all.

Might it be nearing empty?

Hi andreigbs....it's like this full DEF and honestly noticed as soon as I had the car. Brought to service twice and they say they do not notice anything. Very frustrating... I wonder if anybody else out there notice and noise after car is turned off in the rear of car.

I'm saying DEF pump but could be another pump or something else but you can hear it for good 10 seconds or so after car turned off.

We are here on Big Island of Hawaii and the GLK's we see are 350 so I would love to ask can I hear your car turn off...wow i must be some car sicko....lol

Wondering if perhaps it might be a fuel pump in the tank, under the seat. There is a high pressure fuel pump in the engine bay but there is also be a sending fuel pump which primes the fuel system every time you switch the ignition on.

Do you notice it more with a full fuel tank or empty?

Hmm, I would have to say I notice on a regular basis. I try and not let her get low on fuel on a regular basis. So I'm thinking its all the time. You for sure notice the sound a lot more when you go to the rear of the car.

I'm wondering if I can record it and post it here. Yep, thats what I will try and do tomorrow.

Thanks all for your responses.

Hi Tor, were you able to figure this out at all? I've noticed a whine coming from mine for 5-10 seconds after shutoff as well.

Thanks!
