2010 GLK - Adding charging to iPhone glove box connector

How can I add charging to a 2010 GLK with a 30 pin Apple adapter in the glove box? The part number is A0018276904 of the adapter, and it works with my iPhone with a 30 pin to lightning adapter for Spotify, etc. I simply want to add charging and am not sure what the best option is.

Please help,
Tim

Doesn't that adapter already provide charging? Maybe I'm not clear on what you are trying to do.

Then I think something is wrong. The adapter should provide charging via the 30 pin connector.

Is that confirmed for the part number I have? I have seen a couple different part numbers floating around and wonder if this one is an older one that didn't provided charging.

I can't speak to a particular part number, but I find it hard to believe that anyone would make a 30 pin connector only for data, without charging.

Does your GLK have the Media Interface option? If not, then I don't think so. A previously owned 2014 GLK I owned didn't have the Media Interface, and trying multiple M-B cables nothing worked.

Bringing this back from the dead. I found my iPhone 3 and plugged it into the MB glove box cable and it charges by the 30 pin connector. I've tried two different Apple 30 pin to lightning adapters, neither provides charging to my iPhone 7. Any ideas?

Where did you buy the adaptors that won’t work? I bought one crap clone off Ebay that didn’t even have all the pins! Did you try a genuine MB cable ? Did you try an apple old plug to new plug converter ?

The glove box cable is from MB and the 30 pin to lightning adapter is from Apple.

Are you sure that Merc provides power to the adapter? The power in the car is 12 vdc and needs to be modified to the proper voltage for your phone. MB may provide the data path to t he audio system but not the power to the plug since it is probably not 12 v that the phone needs. The voltage for my Samsung is 5 volts. I believe the iPhone also charges at 5 volts.

As I mentioned above I was able to charge my iPhone 3 directly from the MB cable. For some reason charging doesn't work through the 30 pin to lightning adapter.

I have the adapter (small white plastic thingy from apple) and it charges through the 30-pin connector attached to it.
I'm pretty sure it charges. (but it is super short, so you have to leave your phone in the glove compartment)
