Helping a friend buy her first Mercedes. There's a nice, low-mileage, well-maintained 2011 GLK nearby that's being sold by a good dealer.
The only caveat: it was affected by the Takata airbag recall. Since the original owners traded it in for a newer model 13 months ago, it's been sitting off site while barred from resale.
New brakes and tires within the last 10k miles, but I'm worried about recommending this car to a friend when it's sat outside for so long. At least our winter was mild, but still...what do you guys think? Would you still be willing to purchase?

Sitting for a year outside is no big deal. Especially because you know the reason was waiting for airbag parts. Have them throw in a detail and oil change.
I travel a ton for work and my car sits for months at a time, no issue.

Is this a dealer? Is it warranted? The main problem will be with the fuel system. 10% alcohol can pick up a lot of water and can make a lot of gunk. Have the seller clean the fuel system including injectors with a new filter. Check for mold under the carpets and or a musty smell if the vehicle has actually been sitting for a year. Then a test drive to determine why it has not sold. With a CPO or 1 year guarantee you should be good to go.
