GLK 250 2015 engine lights on
My 2015 glk 250 engine lights went on two weeks ago. I took the car to MB dealer and 3 days later the MB rep called me back and said my def fluid was empty and would charge me $200 since warranty won't cover it. My car only had 16k milages on it and i did the service A @10k miles at a friends shop and i saw him change out the oil filter(OEM from MB), added mobile 1 0-40w engine oil, top off almost 5 gallons of DEF fluid in the trunk for $140.
How the rep clam that my def tank was empty, isn't it support to be a warning light in the GLK if the def fluid was low? 2nd, wont the car stop you from starting the engine if it's empty? I feel like the rep from MB is making stories up as i said above, it was top off with 5 gallons of DEF @ 10k milages from service A while the car only has 16k milages as of right now.
Can someone help?

This doesn't look right. Should it not give a low DEF warning message and even XX starts left message when the DEF gets low? To my knowledge the check engine light is triggered by emissions errors and not low DEF.

First, use an OBDII code reader to see what the code actually is. Low DEF doesn't trigger a fault code, but a warning in the gauge cluster.
Furthermore, topping it off is just a matter of buying either a 15$ jug at any VW dealer (they carry it for cheap), which can then be used as a funnel to top it off using off-the-shel DEF you can buy anywhere (for like 20$ for 1.5 gallons or something.
Whoever pays 200$ for that is getting shafted.
