2012 GLK350 error message disabled traction control, ABS

I’ve got 2012 glk350 that I recently got an error message on the dashboard inoperative abs and traction control issues. I was wondering if any other GLK owners have experienced this and what was the remedy. I’ve checked all the fuses with hopes it could be a simple fix however they are all good. I jacked the car up to see if I could find maybe a sensor wire that had come off and could not find anything. Please anyone that has a suggestion.

I had this at 113000 miles. Diagnosed as the ABS-Traction Control valve unit. Cost at the dealer was going to be $1600. Got a great trade-in deal and upgrade to a newer GLK.

Abs traction control valve

Thanks bop11, this gave me a good starting point to research a bit further. Found a thread for rebuilding the abs control valve so I’m going to give it a whirl.I will post my results when I’m done. Thanks again.

I have read several articles and well it’s not to reassuring. Everyone seems to have a different method to fix this issue. Some say the battery was weak, some say the brain box, some it’s the abs needs a rebuild, and some it’s the speed sensors. I was leaning to rebuild on my abs unit however I’m not sure if I’m going to throw bad money, til I get good. It also seems that Benz dealers are not all the same and some being less than honest is an issue. Found this article for the rebuild of the abs system which had a lot of favorable results. Figure I’m going to try this first, and if it doesn’t work then I’m outa twenty bucks and some time.

The unit that was pointed out to me was a valve block with several pipes situated in the front center of the engine compartment. Good luck and take lots of pictures. Mechanical systems are always very interesting and if you are experienced can be very cost effective.

You need to get the code read. Probably needs to be done at a dealer or a shop that has a Star Diagnosis System or at least a system that can read Mercedes brake codes.

No use shooting in dark and replacing things. It could be one of many things. ABS pump, wheel speed sensors, etc.
