Front engine oil weeping... need help diagnosing

Hi friends,

Has anyone else seen this leak? It's two separate spots leaking from what looks like identical metal covers on the front passenger and driver side. Maybe two seals failing. Timing covers? I'm not sure what to call them. Note: This 2013 GLK 350 4MATIC has the M276 engine.

Figured I'd reply and say that the oil appears to be weeping from both chain tensioner covers on the front of the engine. Both passenger and driver side. I think I'll try to move stuff out of the way, unbolt, and reseal with some silicone. Anyone know the correct black silicone MB uses?

Dispenser gun used in conjunction: 112-589-00-25-00
Sealant: 003-989-98-20-10
Aluminium external Torx bolt: 000000-006365

Note the bolts need to be replaced with new aluminium flange bolts upon removal. You can upgrade to titanium flange bolts to reuse. A torque wrench will be required to tighten to 5nm clockwise.

The sealant has a self life printed on the container, using expired sealant will cause rapid failure. The dispenser gun is not required to apply the sealant. There will be a ram supplied with just the sealant.

When I got my car, someone who previously did the oil refill spilled some on the block. It was dirty like yours. I cleaned it up with a toothbrush and engine cleaner. The other side with the filter was clean. perhaps someone spilled oil in your engine? Clean it up and see if the spots return.

Yeah, that's a good idea to give it a go first and was my initial thought too. Though my trip to my local MB dealer to do my Service A had with it just a ton of issues, this one included. Need to do a spark plug change too on this M276 which looks like a bit of a pain. Did a battery change out myself. Engine air filter I did myself too. Also have a front differential seal leak, left inner axle boot torn and leaking, and the parking pawl leaking. Amazing that this all happened in under like 10 months when my Service B was executed. Dealer wanted almost $9,600 to fix everything.
