2015 GLK phone/nav questions
I am considering buying a 2015 GLK and have 2 questions where I hope you experienced owners might be able to help out:
1. The quality of the phone connection is important to me as I do a lot of business on the phone in the car. I borrowed a friend's 2015 GLK for an extended test drive and found that, when I made test calls, the recipients reported my voice quality as "tinny" and said there was a lot of background noise (this was compared to using the phone's speaker phone mode in the car--so it must have been pretty bad). I am wondering if this is typical in the GLK or if this is potentially an issue with my friends' car specifically. I made calls in areas with excellent cell coverage, moving and at rest and, re-dialed on the calls and connected and disconnected from BT as a check on both a poor cell connection and a poor car/phone connection.
2. The nav screen is very small and feels very dated to me (at least as compared to my 2015 Audi A6). Is this something that can be upgraded with an aftermarket unit? If so, is that something an average car audio shop could do for under $1,000.
BTW, I really like the car otherwise--especially the traditional SUV boxiness that is pretty much absent from the new car market right now.
Thanks!

Call quality is the same on my 2013 GLK compared to my 2016 CLA45. It’s definitely not regular call quality, but it’s more than acceptable and easy to hear.
in terms of upgrading the Nav screen, it can be done for about $700. You’ll get a 10.25 inch full HD screen with all the bells and whistles in replacement of your current nav screen.

Update - So my unit totally stopped functioning. Everything was going great until a couple of weeks ago when it stopped booting up. I’m currently back to original 5 inch command screen. Regarding your questions; both the steering wheel controls work and you don’t lose any COMAND functions.

One of the big selling point for me was the info screen/controls. I find them very user friendly and the graphics non abrasive or childish like some of the other brands I tested. The only issues I've had so far is sometimes my bluetooth won't pick up immediately and I have to hit "repair last device"
