Steering wheel tilt wont go up or down anymore
The little knob adjuster on my 2014 GLK350 4Matic will still move the steering wheel backwards and forwards but not up and down. Makes a little noise but nothing. Just started a week or so ago. Any thoughts as to why?

Or you can give the steering wheel a good WHACK! from above, which should release the blocked motor...

Well giving the steering wheel a whack did work in this case and the up/down tilt is working again. I heard there is a way to disable where the wheel auto tilts up when the car is turned off and down into place when turned on automatically. How do you disable that feature?

Nice.
That is one of the "convenience features" that you can disable in the menu, using the steering wheel buttons. I believe it's called "Easy Access" or Easy Entry/Exit, something along those lines.

Like you, I got mine go work again by activating the stalk, and giving the wheel a very hard whack in the direction it was being activated. It started working again. I second disabling the convenience feature to reduce the duty.

I had the same issue on my 2011 x204....just wack the steering wheel in the direction you are tilting....and it should jar the motor loose.

My W204 is going to the dealer tomorrow for this (warranty). I believe I will be activating the exit option once it is fixed to save the motor.

Took the car in this past weekend. I explained to the service writer my issue and he told me to have a seat. As I am watching, the service writer played with the telescoping feature and came back to tell me the car was fixed. He said all you need to do is operate the working feature to loosen the motor. I then told him this appears to be a common problem. He told me it wasn't. I then asked what happens if and when it happens again. He told me to just work the other features like he did. We shall see what happens next time I bring it in.

Unfortunately, these are just not very robust parts on the W204/X204 platform. In fact, I'd say the steering wheel mechanism, the COMAND knob, and the electric steering column lock are among the highest failure items on this platform. If it were me, I'd insist they replace it and not just advise that I get jiggy with it when it acts up; that's not a fix.
And word to the wise: I don't know which Chicagoland dealer you went to, but stay the heck away from Hoffman Estates MB.

Haven't been around for a while but just wanted to let the forum know my problem has since been resolved. Since moving to Arizona, Tucson Mercedes didn't even question the operation of the wheel. When I explained this was the third time it has happened, they gave me a loaner and sent me off. I came back to a new motor for the steering wheel and called it a day. Guess things are different out here versus Chicago.

It's great that you found a good one. A lot of crooks in Schitcagoland.
I think it was more a matter of the plastic gear that broke and made the motor stuck. The updated parts are (hopefully) metal. Either way, I'd leave the "easy entry/exit" convenience option turned off.
