BEWARE weather tech all season floor mats with mounting posts

You have all seen the adds, weather tech floor all season mats for snow winter and rain. Well yesterday I spilt a bottle of water on it and didn’t worry knowing I’m safe , today I noticed no water, I picked up the mat and the carpet was soaking wet. Yes the mounting posts don’t seal, so all that melting snow your going to get on your Weather Tech mats will melt and rot your floor and carpet , and it won’t evaporate.

I called weather tech they said “ they were sorry and would refund my money but that’s the way they are made and they are NOT Waterproof” what bs this is. A lot of people will be getting rotted floors courtesy of the leaking mounting posts from Weathertech .

I wonder if the floor liners are the same - I would imagine so?

If they have holes punched through the mat for mounting posts I’d say yes .

I don't see how in the world you could stop that from happening unless there was some kind of O-Ring seal

If you've got so much water sitting in your (I assume) Driver's side floor mat, how is it not also leaking into the carpet around the accelerator pedal, where it's only got a shallow lip? On mine, water always collects near the front of the mat, towards the firewall, and never does it collect near the retainer snap area.

I keep an eye on mine and dump it if there's any accumulation. It may not be perfect but it's probably still the best option we have.

If you're really concerned, a bead of silicone around the perimeter of the snap would solve the problem - Weather Tech should be doing it as part of their manufacturing process, but again...accelerator pedal cutout...bigger point of water intrusion...

For how much these mats cost plus their advertising of “weather proofing “ I say it’s pure negligence they don’t have a water tight post. MB mats, which I wore out are water proof on the posts. I went out and bought a moisture meter at HD to check that I actually dried out the carpet after figuring this out. A weather tech scam. They are just to lazy and cheap to do it right.
