I've already purchased and had the Flowmasters ceramic coated and did the install. Next project will be to purchase a set of heads from a used/wrecked Mercedes to pull apart for a rebuild removing existing valve seats sending to a friend at Indy Cylinder for machine work allowing larger intake/exhaust valves, port and polish, larger stainless steel valves, and a custom grind set of cams/springs from Crane.Cams.. When the new heads come back, I will have worked out a new ECU program and designed a set of headers to finish off the engine . After that, it will be transmission upgrade to handle the power increase.

lolz good luck
these transmissions are like tissue paper to begin with, they need to be coded to the VIN as well. But im sure you could just have the local corner transmission shop toss in some 'upgrades' oh, and you realize the torque converter, transfer case, and transmission are all one part in this car right?

where is @Plutoe when you need him? we need some of him in this thread.

Did you notice the GLK has 4 wheels as well? There are a few well established shops that already have upgrades for the transmission that include stronger gears and plates, and shift modules,. but I would have to guess you just never have taken the time to do any research on any topic before you post here. Aside from all that you do not know, to handle transmission functions from what is already on the GLK is not such a hard program to figure out,. been there and done that on other vehicles that are just as complex as the Mercedes. Sure glad not everyone thinks as small minded as you, we'd all be still using a horse and buggy for transportation.

Hey Travelness, can u share the results of ur flow master muffler? Which series did u pick? I took off the cat, dpf and scr on my w166, only thing left is the stock muffler, i am thinking maybe i can replace it to make it sound little better.

Please ignore B737, You are doing the right thing. B737 always post negative comments on forum.

Hello. I originally was thinking the 10 series but they are about as loud as a straight pipe, I used the 40 series instead. It is a deep throaty sound more like a V8 instead of a 6. Depending on what you will have to cut back on your pipe to get the 40 series to fit, you can buy the muffler with the offset intake tube so the angle of the exhaust pipe will line up better as it has that angle you know to deal with. I cut back my pipe and used a new stainless steel pipe section to fit from the cut back point about 16 inches and did not have to do much of a bend at all. If you dry fit and eye ball it all, you will see how simple it is to do.

It is sad that some people will "flame" someone on this website and comment on a topic they know nothing about. My original post here was merely to ask if the muffler change out wouid cause any sensors to act up. Since that day just a few days ago, I have learned a ton about the systems on the GLK and the potential for power increase with this engine platform. Monday I head to Detroit to pick up a set of heads from a "pick a part" yard, then take them to INDY heads for them to remove existing valve seats/rebuild the head with larger seats and stainless steel valves that will be 2mm larger on both intake and exhaust, five angle valve grind on those and port and polish and deck the head down, will have those heads back ready for new custom grind cams and springs from crane ( most expensive step in the build), I already have a set of junk stock exhaust headers and transmission. and will ship the headers to TTI so they can fabricate a set of headers to fit the GLK another expense but worth it. Transmission willl most likely go to MOORESPEED as they are fantastic on machine shop work on automatic transmissions and lastly I have a program modual from Megasquirt including a transmission progammable module from them. The current engine cover and housing will get pitched and I am going tp fabricate a straight fat stainless steel tube intake ceramic coated to reduce heat transfer to the air, will run the tube right up into the same area the stock intake starts and will have a K&N cone filter. The real issue with the K&N currently they are too close to the throttle body in the stock housing location and the oil gets sucked into the throttle creating a issue with sensors. BUT moving a K&N Cone filter farther away AND allowing it to sit and dry a bit before install, will cure that issue. I see some post that the K&N makes no power difference...lol...what they don't know.is amazing.

My end of the build on the GLK should net me about 80 horsepower and will retain reliablilty.; When everything is installed and running, I will post a few pictures of the journey The GLK engine already has decent fuel pump volume and injectors are enough to handle more work. I may pull the injectors and have them balanced and blueprinted so they are more consistent to one another, but I will wait to see how things run first.

My last build was installing a supercharger on my 360 Modena Spider.

Perhaps when thinking of a planet name for help...one more fitting for you may be the planet "Uranus"..ehh?

I am sure this person Plutoe has some information on the MB products, and for you perhaps he/she could educate you on what you certainly do not know.

Hey I was thinking about doing this for just the mufflers, I'm looking for a medium tone nothing over the top at all. Would that give me a good sound or should i look to replace resonators as well?

it's definitely a step in the right direction.

Nothing stopping you from just swapping out the mufflers with these resonators, see how you like it ... and if you want a little bit more, then just remove the factory resonators. Easy solution to just have some straight pipe welded in at that point.

Almost everything out there has 300+ HP, especially electric. At the price of groceries these days, the faster you get them home and in the fridge the better. Waste not, want more!
