2012 Glk 350
Weird noise. Please help. (Already searched forum).

Thanks all in advance for your help. I went through the forums and I am confused.

My 2012 Glk 350 makes a high pitch "chirping/whirring" sound. (not a break squeak but more like a fan chirp) that has been reported as an a/c bearing or heater fan problem.

Thing is my glk makes that sound regardless if my heat or a/c is on or not and it only happens when I break.

If it was the sound that squeaky breaks make (had it before on this car), then I wouldn't be so confused. However, this has a sound similar to a computer cpu fan going bad, and it only happens when I break, and also happens when my heat/ac is off.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

If the sound only happens when you brake then it is very likely to be brake-related but you seem certain that it is not the usual brake squeal. Have you checked for small stones or other debris wedged near your pads/rotors. Maybe a dust shield has been bent close to a rotor?

Get your brakes looked at, the fronts wear first and there is only one sensor on the right wheel , if that sensor is bad you won’t know when you need brakes. I had that issue and didn’t know till I was metal on metal.

Thanks for the replies guys. After doing it for a few days, today it decided not to do it. Maybe it was something stuck that got dislodged? I have an appointment tomorrow to get my B service done at the Benz dealer. I'm guessing they check the breaks during this, but I'll be sure to ask them to do so.

May have something to do with the system that increases brake pressure when the vehicle thinks you need to stop faster. Same system that modulates the antilocks. I believe there is a secondary motor in that system to increase the brake pressure. Also could be from the vacuum brake booster vent.
