When I bought my GLK I realized the hinged cover for the 12V outlet (lighter socket) in the cargo compartment had broken off. And then when I plugged my rear dashcam into it, the fuse kept burning out.
I decided the best thing to do was to replace the 12V outlet and use a Bussmann* "add-a-circuit" to hardwire my rear cam. (*model HHA for full-size fuses, I used the #72 fuse slot with a 15A fuse)
Instead of taking my own advice and pulling the part to get the part number off it, I tried to find the part number online. I found the 12V outlet for the glove box and was convinced it was the same part. (It kindof is) So I ordered it.
I got it and realized it wasn't exactly the same so I made a video showing how to modify the glove box part to work as the cargo compartment socket. I'd like to share that here, so I hope that's allowed.
At this point, it's replaced and I'm very happy with the results. But for completeness, I also looked up the correct part number. It looks like I maybe saved myself $10, yay. ($10-ish bucks vs. $20-ish bucks USD)
Glovebox 12V part number A-000-820-48-05
Cargo 12V part number A-000-820-50-51
Here is the video. I'm no fupabox, but maybe it'll help someone.
